Why It Matters
Behind every number is a story. These families are facing life’s hardest challenges—often in silence.
15 million+ widowed Americans
2,800 women become widows every day.
3.2 Million
Children in the U.S. have lost a parent.
369,000 children in foster care
Only a fraction due to parental death.

Losing a spouse or parent changes everything. You may be experiencing:
- Overwhelming grief that seems endless
- Uncertainty about practical next steps
- Isolation when others don’t understand your journey
- Difficulty finding resources specifically for your situation
- The challenge of building a new life while honoring what was lost
Here's How We Can Help:
Promise Doers was born from founder Lisa Chang’s personal journey as a widow. We understand that grief transforms but doesn’t simply disappear. What’s often missing isn’t just support during initial grief, but a bridge to “what’s next” – restoration and renewal.
We’ve created that bridge by connecting widows, orphans, and foster children with compassionate communities, practical resources, and pathways to renewed purpose. Our approach goes beyond grief support to focus on rebuilding and thriving.
About Us
Meet Lisa, Our Founder
The pandemic changed the way we live and when people experience trauma, it is not uncommon for their lives to unravel. Their life goals can be delayed or completely halted due to the sudden loss of a family member(s).
Losing my husband to the pandemic inspired me to start this foundation to support those who share a similar experience. Before devoting my work full-time in the organization, I served in church ministry, missionary, and philanthropy work for 23 years.

Vision Statement
We envision a world where every widow is embraced, supported, and renewed-empowered to navigate life with confidence, surrounded by a community that fosters healing, growth, and lasting hope.
Mission Statement
“Our mission is to connect widows, orphans, and foster children-both locally and globally-with compassionate support, practical resources, and engaged communities. By restoring hope and purpose, we help them heal and regain independence, ensuring that no one faces challenges alone.”
